telegram offers us the most organization and flexibility for what we are using it for. with telegram's new "topics" mode, we are able to get the organizatonal features of discord servers with the flexibility of being able to link multiple accounts on mobile like wire does.
there is an alternative we've looked into called potato chat, which has a lot of similar characteristics to telegram without requiring a phone number. initial investigations have shown there are no emoji reactions for messages, less customization, and no group organizational features that we have come to rely on with telegram. if potato chat adds these features in the future, we may transition down the line; but for now, we're sticking with telegram unil an additional option that fits our needs presents itself.
it means that while the members are comfortable discussing and writing smut, that is not ALL we are interested in. therefore, we're making it more broad and allowing members to essentially "opt in" to the smut parts of the gpsl. it also means we are very open to all sorts of relationships. some couples may be open, some couples may swing, some people may have closed relationships but are fine discussing sex and fine with sexual humor. we are trusting our members to be able to communicate their boundaries.
